Bonnie Schroeder

Bonnie Schroeder has been a member of the Prevailing Winds since February 2003. She is an adjunct instructor of oboe at Weber State University and principal oboist of the Orchestra at Temple Square. She also appears frequently with the Utah Symphony, Utah Chamber Artists and Ballet West. In the summer of 2003, she appeared at the Crested Butte Music Festival. She is the former principal oboist of the Abilene Philharmonic and the San Angelo Symphony Orchestras.
A native of Dallas, Texas, Ms. Schroeder received a Bachelor of Music degree from Brigham Young University, then returned to Texas to complete a Master of Music degree from the University of Texas. She also worked towards a doctorate at the University of North Texas. Her principal teachers include Beth Sanders and Charles Veazey.
Because of a strong desire to spread the joy of playing the oboe to students, Ms. Schroeder maintains a private teaching studio at her home in Sandy, where she lives with her husband and daughter.
